Homework Week 10

Room 6- Homework Week 10 - Due Friday 8th July

Homework Tasks:
1.  Reading (15 min per night). Please bring in some reading material (magazine, book or comic) to share with a classmate.

2.   Mathletics – Log on to the Mathletics website. I have set three Mathematic tasks for you to complete. Once you have completed these tasks you will be able to play the games. If you do not have a computer, make sure you are at school between 8.30 - 9.00, one morning this week to complete this activity.

3. Maths: As you know this term we are learning about measurement. Work out the following questions; Which one of the following do you think has a length of about 110 m? A bowling green?  A cricket pitch?  A soccer pitch?  Or a tennis court?  Which one of the following do you think has a mass of about 1500 kg? A bicycle? An average car? A jumbo jet? Or a large truck? How many seconds are there in one week? A) 60,480 seconds b) 432,000 seconds c) 604,800 d) 1,036,800 seconds.

4. Log on to our Room 6 blog (reremoanaroom62011.blogspot.com) and try to solve the riddles I have put on there.


 
5. Spelling list –As well as learning your words, you need to find out the meaning of each of your words and write them into your homework book.

    Hauraki-well the Maori translation of Hauraki is the North wind.

    Insurance-agreement by which one makes regular paymentsto a company who pay an agreed sum if damage,loss or death occoursl;money paid to or by an insurance company;means of protection.

    Lavender-It is a type of flower.

    Macadamia-It is a nut people eat and can be found in sources of choclate.

    chocolate-chocolate is a yummy food which is made of cocoa and many other ingredients.

    Dismantle-To destroy/break eg.toy peice of chocolate.

    Duncan- Is a name.

    collection-Things collected;collecting;sum of money collected.

    Dairymilk-Is a chocolate company that makes chocolate obviously.

    Reciept-A reciept is usually given once somebody has purchased an item from a store or a supermarket.

    My Mathletics home work was totally hard!!!
    My Dad didn't even understand it!
    It was what is the mean of this frequency table.
    You taught us differently. The mean, median, and mode is a lot different. Where was Mathletics originated? It was last weeks by the way.
